History

It was established in 1979 and is now directed by Professor L.G.Apostolov, Doctor of Biology

Specialization

Students graduate as biologists specialised in ecology.

Ivashov (fundamentals of ecology, mathematical methods in ecology), S.P.Ivanov (ecology of insects), G.A.Kiseleva (theory of evolutionary doctrines), E.G.Kuchina (biology teaching methods), V.G.Kobechinskaya (fundamentals of ecology) and V.B.Pyshkin (fundamentals of soil science);
Assistant G.E.Boiko (water resources and their conservation, experimental ecology).

Areas of Research

Ecology and genetics of insect populations; ecology of wild bees; ecology of water ecosystems; environmental faunistics of insects in the Crimea; and environmental education in secondary schools.

Academic and Educational Relations

are maintained with Shevchenko Kiev National University, Dnepropetrovsk National University, the NASU Institute of Zoology, the NASU Institute of the Carpathian Mountains Ecology, Nikitskiy Botanical Garden, the Institute of Ethereal Oil Plants, the Crimean Republican Institute of Continuing Training and Retraining for Educationalists, the Crimean Republican Committee for Environmental Protection, the Crimean Republican Committee for Forestry, and Yale University (the United States).
