History

It was established in 1948. Its first Dean, Assistant Professor A. Ya. Zilber, was among its founders. Today the Faculty is directed by Assistant Professor V. F. Kroviakov.

General Information

The Faculty provides training in two specialities: physical training and physical rehabilitation.
Five Departments have some 400 internal students and over 1,000 correspondent students. Graduates of the Faculty work in educational institutions, sports schools and societies, health recreation institutions, rehabilitation centres, health resorts of the Crimea.

Students and faculty members may use three research laboratories, library, track-and-field hall, facilities for sport games, gymnastics and wrestling, a stadium, a massage lab, and a recreation facility in Alushta. The Faculty has a sports club "University" which co-ordinates sport events involving students.
The Faculty trained more than 150 Masters of Sports and Masters of Sports of International Class; some of them were prize-winners at national, European, world championships and the Olympic Games. The following graduates are the Faculty's pride: V. Klimov (cycle racing), A. Reshetniak (track and field athletics), A. Pisarenko (weih), E. Shestakov (boxing), M. Oberemko (sailing), V. Piskunov (track and field athletics, second place in a world championship), S. Dotsenko (boxing, second place in Sydney Olympics Games), international Grossmeister A. Zozulia.

Academic and Educational Relations

are maintained with the Crimean Medical University, the Crimean State Agriculture University, the Ukrainian National University of Physical Training and Sports, Dnepropetrovsk and Kharkov Institutes of Physical Culture, Radom Polytechnic University (Poland), sports clubs and organisations of France, Germany and the United States.
