History

Founded in 1991. The founder of the department - professor, PhD G. I. Melnikov. From February 1999 department was headed by PhD O. A. Gabriyelyan.

General information

The profile of graduated students: Political Sciencepolitologists, teachers of socio-political disciplines, the employees of governmental officials, political parties, public organizations, mass media, scientific workers.
Spheres of scientific research of the Department: interethnic relations, conflictology, public administration, public relations. The Center of improving of the methods of training, teaching and researches in the field of Political Science in Ukraine, The Crimean Institute of Peace were created at the Department.

Relations, Contacts

The staff of the Department are active participants of international scientific partnership.
-Within the framework of the project of partnership with George Mason University (USA) the course of studies in conflictology is developing. The staff of the Department worked on probation in the Institute of Conflict Resolution (USA). The term of the project is 2000-2002. The project is a part of activity of the Crimean Peace Institute.
-The staff of the Department are active participants of science probations by the program of Central European University (Budapest, Hungary).
-The Department represents Taurida National V. Vernadsky University in the three year project of the Council of Europe Department of Education "University As the Place of Forming of a Civic Consciousness". 16 European universities take part in the project. Ukraine was represented by National Taurida V. Vernadsky University . The aim of the project - working up the model of the XXI century university.
-In accordance with Memorandum between Taurida National University and the United Nations Crimea Development and Integration Program active scientific researches are conducting in order to elaborate the recommendations in resolution of interethnic problems in the Crimea.
-Within the framework of the Megaproject "Higher Education: Leadership for the Progress", supported by the International "Renaissance" Foundation, the Center of improving of the methods of training, teaching and researches in the field of Political Science in Ukraine was created at the Political Science Department.
-By support of the Peace Institute (USA) the project "The School of Peace" is realizing. A serial of workshops and trainings with the teachers of the university and with communities' leaders implementing in practice tolerant communication principles.
