General Information

It was established in 1971 and is now directed by Assistant Professor A. G. Kuznetsov.
This department covers blocks of core subjects on General Geography studies, Geology and Geomorphology. . Starting from the second year, students specialise in geomorphology and paleogeography. 15 special courses have been introduced for that purpose, including engineering geology and hydrogeology; fundamentals of lithology; mineralogy; fundamentals of paleography; general karst studies; geotectonics; dynamic geomorphology, etc.

They are lecturing six core courses: introduction to general land studies;general and historical geology; geomorphology; hydrology; utilisation of natural resources and environmental protection; history and methodology of geographic science.

Areas of Research

Issues related to geology, geomorphology, hydrogeology, karst, environmental protection, and history of geography.
The Department annually organises scientific expeditions to various regions of the Crimea and Caucasus, and students participate in these expeditions
