After the separation of the Dept of the Ukrainian language and literature in 1975 Associate Professor P.M.Kirichek was elected as the Head of the Dept of the Ukrainian literature.

Since 1985 1 Thesis for Doctors (P.M.Kirichek) and 4 Thesis of Candidate (E.S.Pokotilo, Zh.P.Buketova, M.Ya. Vishnyak, V.I.Gumenuk) had been defended. In 1987 E.S.Pokotilo was selected as the Head of the Dept.

In the meantime 2 Professors (P.M.Kirichek, A.I.Gubar), 4 Associate Professors (E.S.Pokotilo, V.I.Gumenuk, Zh. P. Buketova, M. Ya. Vishnyak), the Assistant (V.T.Gasanova) work at the Dept. The Dept carries out the research of the realism in the Ukrainian literature. During the 15 years there had been published more than 90 scientific and methodical works.
