HISTORY
       Chair of Computer Science Theory has been founded in Simferopol State University (since 1999 Tavrical National University) in 1994 as a subdivision of the Mathematics Department. 
       According to the decision of Ukrainean Ministry for Education, four specialities of mathematics direction, are established in Ukraine: Mathematics. Computer Science, Applyed Mathematics and Mathematical Statistics, but Computer Science has been  included this list only in 1993. 
       The Head of the Chair of Computer Science Prof. Donskoy V.I. received his Doctor of Phis.-Math. Sci. degree in CS  theory in 1994 from the Computer Center at the Russian Academy of Sciences. He was initiator of the CS Chair foundation in  Simpheropol State Univercity .

Major curriculum courses are: Operation Research, Computer Aided  Control, Information Systems. 
Special courses: Linear Decision Making models with Incomplete Information, FoxPro-based Information Systems. 
  
RESEARCHES
      Chair of Computer Science currently consists of 8 faculty members and 3 postgraduate students. The Chair is rapidly becoming  known as a leader in both research and education at the undergraduate and graduate levels. 
      The main scientific directions are Decision Making with Incomplete Information, Pattern Recognition, Artificial  Intelligence, Expert Systems, Computational Geometry, Automated Theorem Proving.
